POOCH EARNS ENTRY INTO PRESTIGIOUS 2007

      SAN FRANCISCO STAND-UP COMEDY COMPETITION

Bay Area Born and Bred Comedian Returns Home
for Participation in Legendary, High-Profile Competition

(HOLLYWOOD, September 7, 2007)  Robin Williams.  Dana Carvey.  Ellen DeGeneres.  Sinbad.  Roseanne Barr.  Steven Wright.  Dane Cook.  All were competitors in one of the most respected and longest-running stand-up comedy competitions in the world – the $25,000 32nd Annual San Francisco International Stand-Up Comedy Competition (SFCC).  Now add one more name to that distinguished list: Pooch.

The rising, Italian-Irish, Northern California-born and -bred comedic entertainer known worldwide as Pooch – born Michael Puccini – proudly announced today that he has received a coveted admission into the 2007 SFCC, now celebrating its 32nd year.  Based in Hollywood since leaving San Jose in 1994, Pooch will be returning to his beloved Bay Area to perform for the first time in more than a decade.  He will be performing in at least five venues scattered throughout Northern California from Wednesday, September 19, through Sunday, September 23.

“I am absolutely thrilled and very thankful to have earned a spot in this year’s competition.  There are hundreds of comics who audition and only thirty spots,” said Pooch.  “The roster of past participants in the competition is a venerable ‘Who’s Who’ of the comedy industry and it is an honor to be included in that list.  I feel like I have already won simply by being selected for participation in such a revered competition.  It has always been a great showcase of the hot comics of the future.”

Pooch will take part in the second of two preliminary rounds, competing against 14 other comedians.  After the preliminary rounds, the semi-finals and finals competitions will take place the following two weeks with the overall winner receiving $10,000 and a major boost to their comedy career.

“It’s going to be great just to be back up in the Bay Area performing once again,” said the San Jose native.  “A lot has changed in my show in the past 15 years and it will be fun to bring my West Coast California Gangster style of comedy to my original stomping grounds.”
